Rubber Gaskets & Seals
Whilst rubber gaskets may seem relatively insignificant components for those without the necessary industry knowledge, they are actually extremely important in many aspects of modern life. They’re present in anything from refrigerators to road bridges and complex machinery.

As a leading supplier of rubber gasket in Australia, we’re familiar with the challenges that manufacturing brings and are fully able to meet them. Industrial gaskets and sealants provide a mechanical seal to prevent leaks of liquids or gases, as a barrier between two objects or as protection from outside elements. Their role is absolutely critical because a failure can pose serious problems, so our manufacturing process is all about paying attention to detail and enforcing strict quality control measures.

Rubber Gasket — a Vital Component in Many Products
The versatility of rubber gasket seals means they’re used in countless products that all vary in characteristics and needs. As a result, almost every gasket is custom-made to suit a particular application precisely. Consequently, you need rubber gasket manufacturers such as Gulf Rubber to ensure your gaskets satisfy your needs and meet exact specifications. Read More
A Wide Range of Materials and Suitability with our Rubber Gaskets
For each new industrial gasket, we’ll take the technical specification of your product to determine what is needed, particularly in terms of rubber gasket materials. These rubber compound materials have varying properties, especially relating to their:
- Durometer, which is a measure of a material’s hardness and its resistance to permanent indentation. Materials with a lower durometer are more supple but are prone to indentations while those with a higher durometer are heavier with more density and less flexibility.
- Tensile strength, which determines the maximum stress a material can undergo when stretched before it tears or cracks.
Various materials have different uses due to their varying durometer and tensile strength, and include:
- Nitrile. A commonly used material that is resistant to oil and grease, has superior tear and abrasion resistance but does not weather well. It is often used in automotive applications and food processing.
- Neoprene. This all-purpose polymer has good resistance to weathering and ozone, and moderate resistance to petroleum products. Industrial seals & gaskets made from this material are easily compressed and resistant to temperature extremes, so are often used for refrigerator doors.
- EPDM can withstand extreme temperature ranges and has excellent resistance to ultraviolet rays, weathering, oil and grease, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
- Silicone is resistant to ozone and ultraviolet light, is suitable for high-temperature conditions and can withstand high pressure but has poor tear strength. It is commonly used in the automotive rubber manufacturing industry and for electrical insulation.
Simple but Indispensable: Top Quality Industrial Rubber Seals
There’s a saying in high-end professional cuisine: you only get out what you put in. Top-quality ingredients produce top results. It’s the same in manufacturing, and it’s why we at Gulf Rubber are so particular about the materials we use and the goods we produce such as being the leading check valve suppliers in Australia.
Our reputation as a leading rubber seal manufacturer depends first on the quality of the rubber we use and secondly, on the way we manufacture what we use it in. If you are in the business of making instruments and systems that use rubber gaskets, you need to be able to trust your gasket manufacturer, and we are proud to say our customers do trust us. It’s the sort of area where things go unnoticed until there’s a malfunction: they expect them to work, so when something lets the whole caboodle down, suddenly the quality of the part and the manufacturer are called into question.
Our confidence in our products stems from the fact that we have been in this business a long time: Gulf Rubber was founded in 1980; we used the best materials and methods then and, as refinements and new ideas have come along, we have assessed and, if we saw improvements, adopted them, so we’re using the best materials and methods now.
The humble seal or rubber gasket plays a vital part in many processes, and we’re happy to say we are highly regarded in the areas where our products are used – areas such as the automotive industry, construction, mining and water with customers spanning Australia wide and further afield. Everyone who needs a rubber gasket manufacturer looks for the best, and for all the ability that internet searches give to finding the right company, word of mouth is the best recommendation. We are gasket manufacturers to some of the finest firms operating in highly specialised fields.
